Under the Weather

Winter is the season of illness. I’m sitting here with a red nose and a scratchy throat after just recovering from tonsillitis. Lucky me! So, I think I am now an expert in making myself comfortable and happy when feeling under the weather. I always feel guilty when I’m ill, like I’m wasting my days but sometimes you need one or two days collapsed in bed or on a sofa. Here are a few things I do when I’m under the weather…

Blankets

Suffocate yourself in blankets and try to feel as cosy as possible. I always feel 10x better when I’m snuggled in a ball of blankets in my bed or on a sofa. Once I’m comfy I can just relax and hide in my bundle with a good movie.

Movies

Stack up a good collection of movies that will get you through the day. Personally, when I’m ill I love watching old-fashioned movies (Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Grease and Dirty Dancing. Those are just some ideas, I could do a whole blog post of my beloved oldie movies!) A movie is the final cherry to a cosy sick day.

Candles

This is the ultimate cosy asset. It sets a very calming and relaxing vibe and although I can’t smell the one I’m burning right now because of my cold aha, the scent will make the whole house smell lovely! The one I’m currently burning is from Aldi and in my opinion the cheapest and best place for candles. They have some Yankee Candles available for a very good price.

A Book

This is the perfect time to pick up that book you’ve been wishing to read but haven’t been able to find the time. I’ve nearly finished ‘Little Women’ and I’m hopefully going to reach the end today. I can’t wait to start a new one!

Simple Work

Try and get the easy tasks done. I’ve done all my laptop work today, so I can still do all the things above that I mentioned but making sure that tomorrows to-do list isn’t ridiculously long.

Hot Drinks

I think I’m on my third cup of tea today and I love the feeling of having a warm drink in my hands. Also, I love having hot chocolate, coffee and a black current drink with paracetamol in it. A hot drink and a couple of biscuits fits perfectly into the cosy aesthetic.

Mums Tip
Wear your biggest jumper and turn the heating right up!

Hope none of you are ill but if you are, enjoy these little ideas that make you feel as content as you can whilst feeling under the weather.

Thank you for reading!
